We had a great turn out at today’s bird walk and, despite the heat, we had a lot of great birds!

We had great looks at Blue Grosbeaks, Indigo Buntings, a Grasshopper Sparrow and Common Yellowthroats! (photo below):

Last weekend Nathan and I decided to make a crazy trip to Tupper Lake, NY to look for a Ross’s Gull that had been seen up there. Unfortunately we did not see the gull, and it still hasn’t been seen by any other birders since Thursday!
We did have a nice treat on our way home, we stopped at a place in Virginia and saw this awesome Long-eared Owl!

We had a great walk today, we had around 25 enthusiastic birders join us this morning. It was a little chilly and foggy, which wasn’t the best lighting for birding, but we were able to see 39 species. Some of the highlights include: Cape May Warbler, several Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and 8 Swainson’s Thrush!

On May 28th we had our bird walk at Miller Park and had a great turn out! We saw a total of 29 species, including these 2 Barred Owls (pictured below)!
Our June bird walk will be at Reynolda on the 25th.
